Itineraries

CHEFCHAOUEN

Nestled between verdant woods, breathtaking valleys, and scenic peaks and gorges, Chefchaouen is a little city renowned for its distinctive handicrafts, which include woolen clothes, caps embellished with vibrant threads, and handmade blankets.

Once there, you may visit famous landmarks like Plaza Uta Elhammam, which is dotted with quaint cafés and restaurants and provides a tranquil area to unwind and observe the passing scenery. Other attractions are the Grande Mosque, constructed in the fourteenth century by the son of Ali ben Rachid, and the kasbah, a wonderfully renovated walled castle with a fine garden. Your guide will be pleased to answer any questions and will share insights into Moroccan history and culture. The trip ends back at your Fes hotel or riad.

IFRANE

Ifrane, also referred to as the “Little Switzerland of Morocco,” was built as a ski resort for citizens of imperial towns during the French Protectorate. It is well-liked in the summer when city temperatures soar and in the winter when snow covers the ground, retaining its small-town charm. The simple, unmarked hiking routes begin at the village’s outskirts. The Lion Stone Atlas is the major draw, and tagine fish is a popular delicacy served from nearby eateries.

AZROU

Surrounded by nature and small villages, a break in Azrou is ideal for those who prefer a slower pace, Tuesday’s weekly market is an ideal time to visit the inhabitants who come down from the surrounding villages to do their weekly shopping (it is also when public transportation in this region is much more manageable). As you walk through the nearby cedar forests, you may be lucky enough to spot a family of great apes. To visit them around the region can follow the indications for the different waterfalls located nearby.

MEKNES

trip in 40 minutes from Fes, Meknes to visit the impressive sites of the Place Lalla Aouda, where Moulay Ismail, the basin of Agdal and even the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail give a glimpse of this once royal city. Take a photo with Giacometti’s watercolor sculpture next to the Agdal basin or enjoy a mint tea or coffee at El Hadim Square and admire the street artists and the turquoise and green Bab Mansour on the square.

VOLUBILIS

Visit Volubilis in the morning to explore its extensive ruins before the sun gets too hot. The site features a forum, steam rooms, residential areas that once housed up to 20,000 people, olive presses, and a triumphal arch. This World Heritage site offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient history.
